3.5e Monster Conversions

3.5e has some good legacy monsters in it that have not yet found their way into 4e. Here are some of my attempts at bringing them forward (or links to other people’s attempts). Okay, these aren’t necessarily the best that 3.5e has to offer; they’re most of the 3.5e SRD monsters still missing from 4e.

  • Achaierai (at 4e Conversion Wiki)
  • Allip (done but not yet posted)
  • Aranea
  • Arrowhawk
  • Athach
  • Avoral
  • Blink Dog – Use a fairly ordinary dog of the desired level; give it the displacer beast’s displacement trait, and give it the eladrin’s fey step power on a 4-6 recharge.
  • Chaos Beast
  • Delver
  • Devil, Hellcat (done but not yet posted)
  • Devil, Horned Devil
  • Devil, Lemure
  • Digester
  • Dinosaur, Deinonychus – Start with an ambush drake (Monster Vault, p. 85), delete the fly speed, and give it the ability to make two claw attacks at the end of a charge. Also, let it make a bite attack (functionally the same as its claw attack).
  • Dinosaur, Megaraptor – Use the stats for a scytheclaw drake (Monster Manual 2, p. 88), but make it large size.
  • Dire Ape – Use the silverback ape (Monster Manual 3, p. 11).
  • Dire Badger (done but not yet posted)
  • Dire Bat – Start with a mutated shadowhunter bat (Dungeon 177, p. 41); treat it as large size and treat its tail slash as a bite attack instead.
  • Dire Lion – Start with a dire tiger (Monster Manual 2_, p. 199), but replace all of its powers with those of a horrid lion (_Dragons of Eberron 4e conversion, p. 4). For an elite version, use the horrid lion as such. Delete the damage type keywords if desired.
  • Dire Weasel (done but not yet posted)
  • Dire Wolverine (done but not yet posted)
  • Dragon Turtle
  • Dragonne
  • Eagle, Giant (done but not yet posted)
  • Ethereal Filcher
  • Formian
  • Frost Worm (done but not yet posted)
  • Fungus, Shrieker
  • Fungus, Violet Fungus
  • Hell Hound, Nessian Warhound
  • Inevitable
  • Invisible Stalker
  • Lammasu
  • Leonal
  • Lillend
  • Locathah
  • Lycanthrope, Werebear
  • Magmin
  • Merfolk – Reskin an appropriate human, elf, or eladrin, giving them the aquatic keyword and a swim speed comparable to their land speed; replace “swingy” weapons like swords with “stabby” weapons like spears and tridents
  • Nightshade
  • Owl, Giant
  • Phantom Fungus
  • Phasm
  • Rast
  • Ravid
  • Razor Boar – Start with a thunderfury boar. Delete the thunder keyword wherever it appears. Add the trample power (from the iron gorgon, for example) at +18 vs. Reflex for 3d6 + 13 damage.
  • Scorpionfolk
  • Shocker Lizard (done but not yet posted)
  • Skum
  • Spider Eater
  • Sprite
  • Tendriculous
  • Thoqqua
  • Tojanida
  • Triton
  • Vargouille (at 4e Conversion Wiki)
  • Xill
